Measure 110 – Preventative Care and Screening: Influenza Immunization

Audit Criteria

When we’re reviewing your clinicians’ data, it may be helpful to know what we are looking for in order for us to verify to CMS that your data is accurate and complete. Measure 110 requires documentation that a patient was administered a seasonal influenza vaccination between January 1, 2019 and March 31, 2019 and/or between October 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 OR documentation that a patient reported previous receipt of an influenza immunization.

This documentation may be found in the patient medical record. The relevant document should be made available to the auditor for the patient requested.

What should I look for in the medical record?

Names of the vaccine used can be helpful in locating the information needed for verification or the type of vaccine given can be used to search for it. Ultimately, the way this information is recorded will be based on the way in which your clinicians record that information. A list of vaccine names and their types are listed below[1]:

  • Trivalent Flu Vaccine
    • Afluria
    • Fluzone High-dose
    • Fluad
    • FluMist
  • Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine
    • Afluria Quadrivalent
    • Fluarix Quadrivalent
    • FluLaval Quadrivalent
    • Fluzone Quadrivalent
    • Flucelvax Quadrivalent
    • Flublok Quadrivalent
    • FluMist Quadrivalent

[1] Because the CDC has not listed their recommendations for the 2019-2020 Flu Season, we have included the 2018-2019 list of recommended vaccines. This list may change depending on predicted flu strain prevalence.
