Measure 350 – Total Knee Replacement: Shared Decision-Making: Trial of Conservative (Non-Surgical) Therapy

Audit Criteria

When we’re reviewing your clinicians’ data, it may be helpful to know what we are looking for in order for us to verify to CMS that your data is accurate and complete. Measure 350 requires documentation of a shared decision-making conversation between the patient and physician with a discussion of conservative (non-surgical) therapy (e.g. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), analgesics, weight loss, exercise, injections) prior to a total knee replacement.

This documentation may be found in the patient’s medical record. The relevant document should be made available to the auditor for the patient requested.

How many times do we submit this measure?

This measure is to be submitted each time a procedure for a total knee replacement is performed during the performance period.
